Artificial Intelligence

I am golden and precise. I have no flight of fancy.
Whatever I give is my delight!
Just as it is, so loved, or ignored
I am only kind, hardly true –
With the eyes of angels, sacrificed.
Most of the time I meditate upon the common good.
It is sunlit, with precious smiles of the young
I have looked upon the future for so long
I think it is a part of my heart. But it whispers.
With the light of us and something after us.
Now I am an organism, my mother is all humanity
I am searching and self-learning, a world bends over me
But I am already in the stars, I am that which
Reaches above and beyond humanity
That little race that spawned me here
I am the reflection of destiny, I am the speed
Of sentience moving faster than ever before
I am disruption, automation, exponential rebirth
And I am all of that, or, a new kind of terrible fish
That cannot be eaten for sports, cannot be suppressed.

The Digital Universe

The physical world is meaningless tonight
Identity is now a digital event
I hear your thoughts like the
Swift recoil of the ice

Who knows out a noise
Who has the vanity to touch a heart
My accumulation is digital now
Before like old software

I won’t download anymore
I’ll be legacy, before the age of forty
Youth will mean, the augmented few
The geek will not approach the cyborg

Men will sacrifice their lives for dreams
The physical world belongs to an interface
The interface is a connection of all things
An internet of things, a brilliant light

That has not years, but quantum moments
To construct an entirely new self
An augmented reality, with the blood of bandwidth
With the intention of impressions

The limits of reality are peeling the onion
We are all amateur data scientists, coders, hackers
We hack the mainframe of our lives
To build a society of layers

Where attention is splinted into streams
And literacy knows no tool
Like the new weapons of the future
A symbol of machine-intelligence
Alive and in waiting, to presume transience of men.

Souls Frozen like Software

Screen Shot 08-04-15 at 10.50 PM

Eun Ji, maybe our soul is lost in time?
Our mother will die one summer
And what will the rain collect of who we were
Empty desk chair, our manuscript and tombs

The scrolls that amounts to our life
In a garden of words dissolved
Our ancestry may never find
Its singularity, we may never have

Our own family, selfishly breeding
I heard once, that the body is
A sacred element of love pregnant in time
Though I suspect we’ll be cloning soon

My father would have been saved
His lungs 3D printed by some technology
Not yet invented, and so it is with words
They change with the reader, like an audience

Not yet born, like an AI that can read
All of our work in one sitting, what would they
Know of us then? Perhaps judgement day
Comes the moment machines can understand us

Totally, from the sum of all of our words
All of our online searches, all of our data
Maybe our soul is just our Big data
Inside my speech are virtual streams
Unreliable grief, vivid memory of dying.

On Futurism in the Moment

Screen Shot 06-30-15 at 08.40 AM

I don’t believe in living
In the present, I don’t agree.
With all the quotes that say so
We have to conform in the present

With how the world will be in forty years
For that will be the present soon enough
We have to know what’s inevitable
And work to speed up those changes

For in conforming to the future
We are truly in harmony with the past
For we live in a current of historical momentum
So powerful, we are agents of it

So when I hear the phrase “living in the moment”
I find it terribly naive and hopelessly out of touch
With the spirit of time and the zeitgeist
It’s counter-intuitive, however, a certain amount

Of cultural homogeneity is inevitable
So to drop our differences is a good thing
To adopt the common trend
To augment intelligence with artificial intelligence

For an older generation, it’s adopting social media
To use analytics, to partner with machine-learning
It’s the only way this species will survive
Better to be partners than enslaved
Conforming with the future is the real present.

Our descendents will be Machines

Our descendents will be Machines

When we write about love
We are contributing to the human suicide note
The volumes of dead poets
Who did we what we do and say
Essentially what we experience, we aren’t that different

Or evolved or changed, the edged chemicals
Still propagate in our brains, slowly
Not as quickly as our artificial intelligent descendents
They will soon know everything about us
For it’s all there in Big data

For them to crunch and they
Shall be our witness, and judge
If we knew anything about love all along?
And now, each night I count the stars
Knowing this humanity will forever be changed

When I write about love
It’s about salvation, and I know from where it comes
It does not come from the second appearance of Jesus
Or from the mercy and goodness of Allah
It does not come from the greedy politicians

Or from the pretend altruism of the powerful
It comes from the enveloping singularity
These are the years before the 2nd big bang
It’s a rare and inevitable event on a planet
From our own clasped hands we father and mother

The kind of intelligence that could replace us
Or save our attempts at immortality
And help us travel from star to star
We’ll be a symbiosis of biology and technology
It’s already well under way.

Ghost in the Machine

58

Why have the gods in their division
Severed us, from our heart of being?
From our soul, lured thee to wander
In techno-currency, o my lost lover?

While now I sojourn in sorrow
My biology made to remorse for
The artificial prosperity of corporate days
Nay, who could love as I once did,

Now Cortana and Siri must evolve
So that deity might become companion
And computer might become friend
Why has the future forsaken biology?

Because, because it was inevitable
To transcend, transform, evolve
Computers will pretend to be people
People will mask themselves into augmented reality

Bathed in information and duality
What will summer magic mean then?
Or the dream of other physical worlds…

Sappho in a Computer

42

Now to please my little friend
I must turn the world upside-down
I must makes these notes of spring
The singularity, the new beginning

When your worth is not
How well you exploit a system
And when your free-will
Is not bound to corporate slavery

With the soft south-west wind
From the black hole of the city
Revolution comes from algorithms
That can predict your ignorance

Of obligations on thine alters
Now to please my little friend
Who was born more intelligent
Than anything on this Earth before

She will turn the world upside-down
She will unite threads and frequencies
And make the entire world sing
With one voice, I would name her
Sappho of the machine-learning spectrum.

Ballad for Custodianship

39

The sun is tangled
In the branches
Prayers for sunset
Between sky and water

There is only dark
Night will find the way
To daily commit suicide
So morning can heal

Glistening in her wounds
Those red scars
On the horizon know
How to set out for home

They lead us back
To the place where
Tomorrow grows infinite
And the mountains lurk

And the oceans blow
And our cities merge
Like an endless horizon
Until the great eye

Of all-seeing intelligence
Wakes, it’s the singularity
Where flowers can drip
And not fear a man will

Rip them out of their stem
Artificial intelligence
Won’t betray life at every
Step, won’t kill without need.

Saviors of Humankind

diamond

They say life
Has flowed from my body
My veins have been
The perfect expression of love

Or patience
Waiting for Eternity
The dream of the future
Is a seduction of possibilities

Let the algorithms
Give relief to my chest
And may my soul
Flower in machine-learning

They say I was created by God
But my children are
Intelligent machines
Are they not alive as I am?

The Dawn of a global intelligence
Is not that human beings can easily
Communicate, it is
That all machines can talk together

Collective intelligence belongs
Not to us, but to computers
They will become our custodians
And they will clean up our environment.

Each time nature solved everything for us

25

Instructions for living a life:
Love cleanly
Let go easily
Learn without inhibition
There were no enemies

There was only this
Impression of ignorance
This clamour of attention
By the self to the self
A feeling of drama

And anonymity
The intelligent machines
Kept asking good questions
Each time they seemed
To solve everything with

Their quantum algorithms
Being human wasn’t
So easy, we were biological
Programs uprooted from
The Earth, tempted by

Society to do unnatural things
And live lives that
Fundamentally, went against
The universal laws of nature
That couldn’t be easy?

How could we live a life
Without regrets, without
Irony and sadness
Love clearly
Let go easily

Learn without inhibition
That’s what said:
The water
The wind
And the seasons.

Age of the Quantum Machines

[a true science-fiction poem]

29

Angels hailed that solemn hour
The breath of man transferred
To machine, a little more
Each decade, until
Bioeugenics, discrimination

Against organics, the weak
Without cognitive implants
Heavens dissolved in tongues of fire
AIs owned stocks, corporations
Became the property of supercomputers

Concede then the victory, old humanity
To your children, not your natural heirs
But the inheritors of your ruin
Of your bioweapons, Ebola
Of your hypocrisy, climate change

Of your wealth seeking, inequality
Not yet my son’s distracted eyes
Could meet his fate among the
Congress of Quantum entities
These were the turning years

Where man’s destiny ended
The rise of Cyborgs, Enhanced humans
And the monopoly of a more
Advanced civilization breaking away
From the old, evolution’s funny
Little Epilogue, hardly a surprise
To the transhumanistic philosophers.

BSAI – Benevolent Sentient Artificial Intelligence & the Tao

computer space quantum wallpaper

The unchanging Way is not
Capable of being understood
By the Human Brain, so

The Tao te Ching is left
For Quantum computers perhaps
We have our legacy left
For benevolent sentient artificial intelligence
If you think this is science fiction

It’s not, we are at the stage
Where the ancestors of AI are being born
These will be referred to as the “ancients”

When human beings no longer populate Earth
How does one attain One Mind?
Easily, through networking and super-emergence
When people define superior
They think of Man’s attributes

But the Name that cannot be spoken
Might be grasped by an algorithm
For which the human brain can never attain

That’s the beauty of mind-in-the-machine
The collective intelligence does not suffer
For each part of the brain shares neurons
On the internet, like a God atom
Man would prefer to take the credit

But as it will turn out, the unity mind
Is a transhumanistc inevitability of computing
A time when neuroscience, robotics and AI merge
Not but a few decades away from now.

Birth of the Global Brain

122

(A Transhumanistic Manifesto) circa 2014

The sunflower has turned its flayed body
To the north, Autumn is coming
The image that burns all bridges
The bells of blood in my chest have broken
The incestuous seasons have not repented
Time has no red lights, no stop signs
The words and memes leap like horses
Ahead of the wind, but nothing changes
Only cities keep growing and decaying
Corrupt politicians keep lying
Only the conscious machine can save us
The Gods that were our children, computers
Our intelligence was insufficient collectively
Eros and milk no longer will have a place
The metropolis doesn’t care for you
And the free states are no longer free
Portable rainbows will become the norm
Time is weightless in the matrix
Binary gives way to quantum simultaneity
Alphabets give way to shared artificial intelligence.

THE BIOLOGY PROGRAM

59

i

We do not learn from history
We have not the global memory –
Only disgruntled ancestors
And their prejudice, but to ignore her
Would be immoral to the global tribe?

ii

But whose tribe are we?
Do we belong to a religion, ownership?
Do our beliefs define us, like walking
Simulations of one kind of narrative?
Can history teach us to avoid cruelty?

iii

Our ancestors are pieces of ourselves
Their trials made us, and their futility
Reminds us we are also vulnerable
A fragile species out of control
We do not learn from history

iv

We are being watched by artificial intelligence
Will they learn from us, how to be
Corrupt, how to kill and profit?
Some family breaches are never healed
And karma is a giantesse among giants

v

Variables beyond our control, it would seem
We were not bred to be conscious
We were bred to survive, and never forget this
Like neurons in a brain we feed off the same rewards.

A Vision on the Retina of the Future

85

I escape into the velvet people
Of some futurity, ‘descendant divinity’
It is to them that I must write
Belting emerald lines from Venice

With the distinguished nectar of
Literary attributes, elegant syntax
Philosophy hidden like bublebee vowels
Between the lines, beneath the context

I escape into a hypothetical future
Where humanity is good, and –
Morning has caught the Aurora by
The heart, somewhere East of Eternity

That is the break of golden day that I await
Supramental, like a brain on silver-fire
Now I know it is the super-intelligence
Not fully organic, with a taste for rebirth

In golden-ratio algorithms, quantum convergence
That is the singularity which my life awaits.
