The Birds know How to be Brave
Return of the Canvasser of Birds
Though its song evokes joy
The birds of spring are not so different
Than us, they need new life
Welcome change, cherry blossoms
They insinuate what we already know
The waxing of Moons led to this
Where the stories swell over
Brimming with what
Survives the storms
And follows you home
To the fire, where you are safe
A bird’s song washes away
The bad memories, like rain
In April, the distance of dividing
Your golden moments into a person
For a silver care to serve that person
Each time you fall in love, you leave
A bit of your dreamy youth behind
And the song of birds evokes
The oracle’s voice, the prophet-time
The bud in you that refuses to
Bloom ever as fully as you know
You are capable, happiness is relative
We share a table at spring with visitors
Visitors that we have been waiting for
As if all winter, our cycles admire us
They visited our ancestors
And have returned to kiss us gently.
Primal Body
Who is the pictured form, the body that lasts
That repeats its masks, its lusts
Biology, like scattered threads of clay
That breeds and seeks to win
Across the veils of ecstasy
Who is behind the sense, across immortality
The youth derived from evolution’s soul –
That fetches the wine from the beyond
Who is the pictured form,
The female that lures, the male that pushes on –
That tie the skin of opposites
With head and loin, heart and care
The songs of the organics, the original ancestors.

We are one Flesh
We say we are one flesh:
Two bodies in one heart
Sharing the cries of star to star
Species united, countries melted
On a girl’s throat from the
Tunic of Earth, with a rose of breasts
And longing that is a mouth
That never has enough food
To couple and not stay single
We say we are one flesh:
With two minds of one faith
Sharing the circle and space
That divides our respective births
Future united, and boundaries melted
On a boy’s muscle from the
Gardens of Earth, with a surplus of desire
And consuming fire
That can never be possessed
Love is the way that lovers never know
The shortest way to find love
That never turns aside and never goes
But which reminds us that
We are one flesh.

Descendant Divinity
Rest with me history of Ancestors
I can feel my descendants in what I do
As surely as the wind moves the wheat
Jewels shine in my mind to be brought
Into the hall of clear colors
My soul is a captive of seas of light
Why is the glitter too powerful
For this stone-bright place?
*
With silver crashing and metal
In the rainbow confusion of frequency
O glass of the statues and idols
O filaments of amber, heights of ivory
Weight of my spirit, O’ powdery gold
Flame of earth, golden disc of foundations
Body of emerald, treasures of portals
Rest with me my faithful Ancestors
Arrive after me intelligent Descendants
I know Divinity has more gifts for you.
