An Ocean of Stars

vein_of_stars_by_sa_nick86-d953b2r

The ocean is a great intelligence,
It’s feminine, wide and free
An earth-soul shelter for our freedom
So when we reincarnate, we have something

To go by, stars in the milky way
Our galaxy of sensitive pulsating, Oh Hae.mi
I feel the stars calling me by my name

Si-in sees the ocean’s beauty
Si-in reads the woman’s magic
Si-in feels the shores wealth

The ocean has led me on into the Earth
I have no time to be unhappy
No time to say the sky meets the ocean

At some point, Hae.mi kisses the horizons
But that is not my job, I write
You course in my blood, my blood of the ocean

Shadow dancer, and strange, Si-in leaves into the inside
Without a care for convention, softly entranced
To the rhythm of her voice, that’s kindness

On the lulling roof of waves, below the
Throng of moonlight, that’s peace
A freedom of stars reflected on water

For so many miles in the half-dark
That’s creation right there, Si-in knows
Hae.me, our legend has a brightness

We’ve made stories between the waves
We must not lose faith in humanity
Humanity is like the sea, said Gandhi.

I Celebrate S o u l

The soul is full of reverence
The soul honours your soul
There is no mine or you
It honours the place where we

Reside in the entire universe
And honours light, love, truth, beauty
And peace within you
Because it is also within me

In sharing these things
Our spirits are united
If we didn’t have idealism
Hope for a better future

A sense of equality and justice
The capacity to have revolutions
We would not be one, or have
A common descendent divinity

There is a point in evolution
Where we evolve past this or that
And what I assume you shall assume
And what you dream, I shall live

For all these atoms of our humanity
Belong to a collective-soul
The atmosphere of unity is intimate
While it is transcendent of our body

I am mad for it to be in contact with me
The sniff of green that is a reminder
And we loaf and invite our souls
To govern our lives, like a discovery

Of our most powerful freedom
Who wills to serve divinity must
Intoxicate themselves with higher ideas
To participate in the future requires

A few embraces of altruism
A play in the shine of innovation.

About Space

5

To Speak with Unknown Citizens

I pray to the light every day
Watched by every human love
For a summary of beauty and vision
Softly round this dreaming Earth
The mortal world is not enough

For the lover of the cosmos
The winds of dawn still blow
Cursive upon my humble cheeks

Midnight burns me with a look
Such green welcome how I’m sure
But stars have involuntary powers
Given to them long ago
And age insults the ancient Night

Should heart find sanctuary there
In things larger than our cares
And in views further than our eyes can see

I long for a Bureau of the Universe
To be a tourist of a Greater Community
To mingle with and speak alien tongues
And catch a ray of something sublime
From the mail of the galaxy

Anything to flee the smallness of men
And to be entertained by something
More holy than our collective ignorance.

While the living water whispers below the sun

48

I can feel the foam
Of the cosmos, glowing
And carving my soul
Love in its gentlest form

Altruism for an ideal
Not for always and forever
But for today, we bow
Before the life-force

Of a billion galaxies
Is the heart of man pure?
Does it matter, he will
Survive if he can align himself

With nature, if woman can
Turn him to righteousness
Behold, all things attain
Their sustainability in balance

The sun is that strong
The light is that wise
Deeds, knowledge, beauty, joy
All come from evolution

It’s not us that thinks, builds, mates
It’s only the measure of
Energy in us, the youth in us

I can feel the foam
Of the universe all around me
All that the morning star
Has scattered, all the folds
Of twilight that never went away

All that the stars leave in their
Bringing together of energy.

The Last Organism

Frost of the north

In the sacred guild of
identity, we are golden
selves moving towards integration
in a cosmos more diverse

than our imaginations
billions of forms of intelligence
all following an order
majestic and grave and

simultaneously in their unity
there is no “I” in the
cell that speaks to the universe
only a persistent “we”

after bullets come spirits
after wars come books
after theater comes dialogue
this world one cell

in a body of many cells
in an organism that we
call the “universe” faster
than the speed of light

how does an universe find
enlightenment, in a sea of light?
When spreading means star-pollen
And time is just a metaphor

For space, and space is just
An expansion of life
So what are we as brains
And bodies and energy

After all, we are natives
of oxygen and light
born on water and breath
speaking the same language

as all living things speak
specters in an evolution
without an end, extinction for us
might mean other forms of

life survive, racing for Earths
giving space for other
creatures to have their turn
in the cycles of dream

in the dirty light we cannot
recycle, in the barren cities
where we ate bread and bred for
a while, until it was our time

to climb back into the source
that all men fall from their
duality, back to some essence
of what they once were;
and again must become.

Multiplicity

95

I’ve known a river of bodies
Like a downpour of stars
And creative suns conjuring

The destiny of so many little ones
I’ve seen reptiles come out of oceans
And lovers come and go
I am the creation of what I see
The eye that watches another season

Is it really any different from the last?
I’ve known faces, a few thousand
Their water of truth, their truth of water

And music like songs, so many songs
And storms as thunder, lightning, rain
The sound of the rain was a multitude
Of rain drops kissing the earth
And pollen that is caressed by the wind

And flowers, so many flowers
All the colors of the known universe
Do other planets have flowers like these?

And other sentient beings, do their eyes
Cry in the drumbeat of time, the silent hum?
I’ve opened you and I’ve been beaten by you
And life, naked in my mind explores
An unlacing, a spreading, reproducing the ripples.

cosmos osmosis

21

i want to go beyond the ordinary
moments scatter themselves
like a dream that never truly wakes
i have slept the dream of stones
and premonition for the light
the magic reflections that resurrect
i have been endlessly falling

since my own birth, i can hear
whispers from the house of death
where fate and the quest for meaning ends
at least for self, day is an immortality
of many days for living’s other birthplace
everything speaks to the dawns
the pulse of life is an inexpressive presence

which doesn’t need us, not me, not anyone
it just advances and retreats
goes roundabout arriving forever
deep among the dream of years
but doesn’t call time, “time”
time is not relevant to that
invisible flowers become visible

a timeless sun doesn’t care for billions
it only caters for eating an orange of light
enormous, as is the life of constellations.

THE UNKNOWABLE COSMOS

55

i

How incredible, the room which you evoke
Advice from the muses, or the sound
Of Spring from your lamplit desk

ii

We outgrew our rants on philosophy
But beauty grew on us, like poetic
Suspense, or our understanding
Of the Cosmos, until we enter

iii

A midnight where the memory of writing ends
The Universe a designed simulation?
Where slight uncertainty gives us
A need for Faith, and doubt raises
More questions of how incredible

iv

It all is, the Divine inclination to grow
To need to know more, and finally
The complacency to silence that is
So necessary to truly enjoy time

v

Still, some things always escape us
Mirrors of the moment or the window’s token blur.

Testimony of Cosmic Bells

27

Once in a dream (for once I dreamed of you)
the universe colluded in an open field
we stood together like spiritual family –
sporting with ease the courting

cosmos in full view
Once in a dream (I woke up next to you)
I felt the pause of thirsty souls

who never in a lifetime find the true love
at length beneath the stars we
create narratives of time ran golden

and glory worn like beloved clothes
i felt your long black hair
for my spirit to expand in paradise

Once in a dream (for dreaming was with you)
i struck the bells wantonly, tinkle tinkle well
to golden lamps and oranges

while foremost we sparkled on the brink
of love at one with nature
in hours that cannot come again
but continue like the ding dong deep.

The Grace of the Cosmos

M31 Adromeda Galaxy

I would love the Universe
Not to profit by her, or steal her grace
But for what she is –
I would smile at the starts
Not for seeking or inner comfort

But because I exist because of them
I would try to know the Universe
Not for control by her powers
Or how I can exploit her myriad truths!
But because her wonders are the orders

Of my own divine formula
My heritage, the science of my ancestry
The future of my dearest kin
I would serve Life in the Galaxy
Not for my species to gain over others

But for all life to have its moment to bloom
I am from a dying, warlike species
But I would love the Universe
As my last power of choice, on a world
That I unheedingly aided to destroy.

Song to Orion

Orion

Great stars of white frost/
Ancient beginnings of Orion’s Belt
Landscapes of crystal
*
Fish the darkness of my psychic
Road of dawns, that opens new worlds
Rock salt and iceberg Cosmos

Pleistocene padlock instinct
Primal intelligence of green vitality
Give me rebirth, like springtide’s revelry
*
Great noble stars of whitening transparency
Melt the fine dust of my humanity
Bring me the end of the world, that I might

Truly look in the mirror as if
For the last time, and sparkle with you
Star on star, body to body, hope to hope
*
That I might drink the Galactic wine/
In a network of supremely loving satellites
Great stars of white eternal frost

You know best, I am only a watcher
I will see only gold, in your darkness fluff
For in the eye of the behold, is only racing light
*
I await my Beloved, as of old, in calm divinity
Great stars of the Multitude of Answers
All possible truths assault me, like moonstones and vodka.
