The Flyers

The Winter night’s moon
Is wet and dangling all silver
Half-plucked from the
Eyes of the stars

It’s a huge wounded sky
With supernova celebrations
Politics of worlds may continue
And a bit of human music

But evolution cares about
The end-game, the empowerment
Of life at its height
In its golden ages

The occasional colonization
Of stars by mortals
Or by their machines
The grasp of angels to

The oxygen and water-worlds
Our curiosity was not unlike
The first ones, with gleaming hands
Each new species makes its way

Out from the confines of its
Civil war and ruined economies
As if they were the first.

Youth till now

72

Art by Agnes Cecile..

In the scattered vibrations
Of youth
I lifted each hour whiter
I slept with each month greener!
And I felt invulnerable

I feared death then as if
Cessation of being was a bad thing
Desire pushed me
Into new encounters
With the inevitable side of life

The empowering and affirming
The unfurling in the wind
And expansions into scenes
With silken banners, drunk liaisons
And knots, as the side of my bed

Inside my head, freshness of wounds
Errors in waiting, studious looks
Chaos in the overwhelming discovery
And the self-discovery of innovation
As if self had to be created over

Sky rising to the lips of fate
In a wayward temptation
Yes well that was then
And this is now, indifferent bliss
Sprouts in me now, like incense

And peace, preferring not the face
Of whirlwinds or zipper-trance.

I Came Here

50

I came here
As I write these lines
Not as a poet, preacher, prophet
But at random, an explorer
Of language, this first
Invention, I find it very fine

Finer than many of our
New things, I embrace
The lineage of poet-saints
And eat the mystic rhetoric
For breakfast, all to have a

Feast of the mind, a daybreak
Of the soul, that is not
Contrived by economic murmur
The first light, the dispersion
Of the birds makes me feel free

Like the music behind verse
I came here
As I write these lines
As a simple fool & observer
Careful to maintain my silence

In this world of propaganda
Careful to maintain my purity
In these times of great corruption.
