The heart was created to speak, you tell me

19

The heart was created to speak, you tell me

Being close to you is like
A monsoon of words
A translation from Arabic
Into the light of your signature
Meditation, these faded eyes

Know you, recognize
The idealism, of being nine-teen again
You who give blue alms
To the broken horizon in me?
A penny of a star?

A volume for spiritual food?
Being close to you is like
A monsoon of words
Is this twilight constitutional?
That I would wish to hear you

Speak, gentle, softly, as if
I could relish the bird-voice
Of your girlish philosophy
With your breasts to the wind?
With your throat to the cosmos?
Whispering of atoms and immortality?

YOUTH WHITE AS DEATH

14

i

Light drips from your face
This is your true element
Rainbow skin glowing of youth
I could look at you a long time
Wonder about your genes
Laid on a canvas of flesh
Created for beauty’s own rite

ii

Lips with the hue of the dawn
Eyes the color of lost Oceans
Pushed into the scene
Your necessary breasts that heave
As you breathe, your bud and bloom
The thick rapture of your hips
Whole biographies swim in your movement
Swallowed are the appetites of this world

iii

The temporary triumph of homo-sapiens
Over this dreary planet of deconstruction
All for the certainty that you can melt men
From ancient Egypt to New America
This is your true element
Women knitted in breathless years
That spread difficult ordinary happiness

iv

With just a look, between the years
Of seventeen and twenty-three
Six years of sacred shine my soul wheeled back in time
For your body the gold in my ears got hot
Miraculously kept in its essentials
Your skin radiated something that slipped through:
Fertility, as a necessity of life.

No Home like Femininity

Lying in bed I almost mistake Good health for youth Moonlight on the floor For memories of your skin Looking up I see the cold light For what it is, birthplace Source, cool strength Like your body that carried me … Continue reading

I Am Made to Bow

26

I affirm what Divinity affirms
What does God affirm?
So if you cannot negate
What God negates, how

Do you suppose to commune with her?
She knows that I am a member
Of ignorance-society, so she smiles
And ask me to have a sense of

Humour, I precede to fill my days
With signs of gratitude
For a Lord Supreme, nature
In the silence of earth-necessity

I affirm what evolution allows
Secretly, her powers of heaven-necessity
Immediately, faultlessly, working
Through me, as a Man who

Unknowingly crawls towards God
But women, breathlessly bow to Delight
Knowing divinity more intimately,
If I affirm those who empower nature

I must learn to serve women better.
My Beloved Supreme who
Teaches me how to give, not from capacity
But from striving to emulate her perfection.
