For Those Who Don’t Know They Know

Think of yourself as nothing
Totally forget yourself for one minute
How sweet it is to be natural
Without egocentricity
Look and hear not just for yourself
But be what you see
You can enter the Universe of thought
The thought of the Universe
A state that is beyond time and place
But in order to enter the Universal
You must forget your troubles
And you must abandon your desires
Nothing is yours or will be yours
Leave behind your attachments
Think of yourself as nothing
To learn how to live freely
Not for pleasure, or gratification
Or for security, think of yourself
As part of everything, see everyone
As your friend, that is the only
Way to live for the new world
That has yet to be born.

Searching my heart for its true joy
This is the thing I find to be:
That I am not weary of time, though

It moves too quickly, and words and people
Drown out my own sorrow, this world
Deserves more than my self-interest
The salty sweetness of pleasure grows old
But helping others, that peace never ends

I found the small moments of empathy
In my days, the best, the cherishing of others
A more luminous goal than self-satisfaction

And now I am caught by the suffering of others
Not in a bad way, but in a collective-realism
That I too, had it easier than others
That I too, was born more fortunate
And thus to serve others may be the only way
For me to ever understand humanity.

Many people mistake their work
For their vocation, but our vocation
Is to love, universal and immediate
This is why we are here on Earth

If you marry something, make sure
It fills every opportunity in you
To make the world a better place
That is the feast, and that is the holy communion

Having loved those who shared our lives
How can we have any regrets in the end?
The resurrection is when we die to ourselves
And learn to give without rewards

Who can achieve it, all who have shed false-belief
I cannot consider myself righteous
If I do not learn to love the world more wholly
More fully, that is the vocation of my love

A new commandment I give to thee:
To serve each other, by this all the people
Will know that we are all disciples of true caring

Blessed are those who are not afraid
To lose what wasn’t meant to be;
From the rising of the sun, to the place
Where it sets, is the name of my Lord which is Love.
