By the Mouth of Divinity

3.jpg

It’s as if infinity sleeps in your eyes
But when you look at me, I am made complete
the poetry of everything that is alive
I feel in you, like a moving work of light

You are the agile grace of air
And the calm of ocean’s deep
You are a yellow monument of the East
And a slight feather of all care

You are the familiar clay and melody
Of Mandarin, the whisper of Korean
And I ache to know the temples of Taiwan

Where on mountains I meet my purpose
And if I can ever understand, the rite of love
I want it to seize me like a paradise
Where harmony is the goal and dawn

Is the vistas of all I know to be true
The embellishing thirst of forests and lives
That were not meant to be alone but shared
A release of primitive genes from deep

In the Earth’s mystery of the vault of time
Where our ancestors felt the flowers and the blood.

Water Star

84

Water Star

I fit into you
Like laughter to the point of tears
Like a sun bleached to perfection

That is how I will remember
Our life together
Sun bleached winters
Full of transparency

Waiting for spring
Trying to learn Mandarin
You trying to learn English
I fit into you

Like dreams hot with
New changes, redemption, second chances
And I’m full of gratitude

For the small wonders dear
For the quiet sense of belonging
I never truly had before.

I have no never, because of you

37

You must know what I
Do not like in ideas
That I am biology
Crude and mechanical

But as everything as
Its two sides, in reality
I love you in order to
Fulfil my biology and

Romantic notions of how
To start infinity again
Or in your womb weave
The joys of the future

You must know that I
Am passionate about the future
My love has two lives
In order to love you I must

Secure a better position
And not get too caught
In your sinking eyes
And the your charisma

The nuances of cherries
And the mischief of the fox
The grapes that you like
In the hard gold of your cheeks

And the blue limits of your goodness
The swelling equation
Beneath your breasts
You must know that I

Suffer to remain progressive
Though by instinct
Your hips are like opaque pearls
And your touch has

The timbre of feathers
Your smile has the root
Features of my favourite stars.

Touch

19

My hands
Serenade your cheeks with a lifetime
Of devotion that never wavered
Saving each other, we were touched
Immortally, like souls the same
Frequency, my hands
Opening the curtains of your secrecy
Like butter, to cloud your nudity with
Cooling rain, your lips with
The kisses that we invent to sanction
Our years together, which drip
With the water of our mortality
Our bodies are spiritual vessels
There is no doubt, our faith
Invested marriage for working together
Each hour we spent on each other
Came back in ways we couldn’t even imagine.

After 100 Sonnets

I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it.
~ Audrey Hepburn

84

i

My ugly love, when you are so beautiful
to me it’s not enough for my mouth
whose kisses routinely bathe you

in an inventory of whispers, love-cries
with tenderness for however long
nature allows, you allow, fate allows
flower by flower, I would choose you
again and again, my loving angel

ii

Your body’s fragrance is my
shadow’s energy, your humid flesh
the channel of my dreams

if also for our child, who forgot to incarnate?
my truthful love, so sincere and honest
with armpits like the smell of wheat
and breasts as impetuous as a stormy sea
and eyes like wildfire, cutting me

iii

Into sweet obedience, I could not imagine
that I could have built a house of
sweetness without your splendor

and how you love cherries, your cheeks
an Asian wispy elven secret of youth
my soul-engaging love, I have to remind myself
we are getting older together in
beloved months, we sometimes forget the details

iv

Of why nothing mattered or had a name
except each other, we were made for this
an alchemy of spirits, while our shared beauty

allowed us to endure poverty
with gifts as plentiful as sparking
moments of gratitude that went on forever
like lessons learned from wise calming friends
and lovers that felt like they were

v

Gifts from the gods, plump-wide-eyed
spiritual dreams of some strange mineral belonging
we walk naked through the golden church

of our earthy love, as if we learned to be
one body, one shared soul wearing
clothes of separate bodies, laughing minds.

Maiden like a Sage

83

My housewife is a Buddhist Queen
She sweeps the intimacy
Of our colored blooms with compassion
Dropping amber threads

Where I may have failed so –
She litters dust of emeralds
On our sleep bed, and lights
The candles for our meditation-bath

My housewife is a Buddhist Queen
She dreams vivid messages from
Lives before, and abolished all my captivity
She endears my fate to Gardens & birds

And speaks the dizzy Music of the Mandarin
That I pretend to say, the Ripest Rose
Of Jupiter-in-pink before I leave for work
My housewife is a Buddhist Queen

A logician of the deeds of the mundane
She cooks with righteous vegetables
I have never seen before, spicy mushrooms
To complement my idle touches

She washes my Noons with fruit-basket-care
With the algebra of hope in her yellow veins.

So that our sleep might answer all the sky’s starry questions

75

Love is a bewildered nest
Branded by comfort
Time propagating in the shared darkness
I untangle my confusions here
Unlearning solitude

Like a secret creature in the fire
The day’s net has extinguished
All goodbyes, all labors unfulfilled
In the slow bedroom of the moon
Breathing with the gentleness of gold

Touching lasts a lifetime with you
Simply a pulse of a long slow-river
Our blood mixes, we become
One celebrated organism, one unit
A family where your hands move

Autumn on the march, thriving
Like a crazy woman sings
To the evening vines, the salad-tulips
We bend towards our nocturnal bodies
Rejoicing like an ultramarine couple

Steam-breath coming from our joys
And blue frost clogging up the mirror
We are a four-sided constellation of light
From some distant star, and we are home
Love is a bewildered nest, full

Of eyes like the dearest diamonds
And the wine, the ruby-juice
The sap of our decades of care:
That never got drank completely.

Bounty of a Mandarin Candle

73

My wife, your hands they fly
From my eyes into the day
where the last sunshine
touches my face in throbbed

Turquoise where the ocean
Meets the sky in barenaked syllables
A flower petal found of sunsets
My wife, we live together in

A honeysuckle celestial capsule
Absolutely in our own world
My wife, how the darkness has
Swallowed us in the mercy of

her closed wings of grandiose shelter
My wife, I love to watch the
miniature empire of your face
With the characteristics of my

eternal notebook, the lift of perfume
and laughter, the garden-dream
of your tenderness of blue material
Where life seems prosperous & lucky

My wife, the last crazy sunbeam
Of my open heart, has arrived in your form
As the flare of corn in the soil
Or the gift of rain to the natural world.

Magnetic transience of our blooms

70

If your eyes were not the
color of lightning, of a day full
of loving hope, this world of
faces, work, play, politics

If you were not the chief grace
of my little years, amber weeks
golden months, clogged with
moments of clasping anticipation

I would have gone mad long ago –
If, my dearest, you had not come
into my life like sand, trees, rain
everything is so alive that is to

live with you, eat with you, move with you
if our arms, legs, noses did not touch
each night in our beloved sleep
your life and my life would not

be so good, so happy, and now
I can see everything that lives
and loves in you, so easily, held-in
as the water that shatters the

restless rock; the breeze that caresses
the most ancient fires, you were there
and we drop into the future in
blue salt, falling in sea-circles of
another world, of permanent tenderness.

Anniversary of being Lucky

5

I sip to our anniversary
Of being lucky no matter what
Happens or is supposed to occur

I sip to our celebration
Of being happy no matter what
The world sends our way

Steam is pouring out of
These fortunate years
Mist is slipping by from our honeymoons

I sip to our anniversary
I’m sorry, forgive me, thank you, I love you:
Tonight is like any other night

I sip to being in love with your voice
That quivers by my shoulder
In the lucid night, warmed by the
Sudden laughter of your spirit.

Testimony of Cosmic Bells

27

Once in a dream (for once I dreamed of you)
the universe colluded in an open field
we stood together like spiritual family –
sporting with ease the courting

cosmos in full view
Once in a dream (I woke up next to you)
I felt the pause of thirsty souls

who never in a lifetime find the true love
at length beneath the stars we
create narratives of time ran golden

and glory worn like beloved clothes
i felt your long black hair
for my spirit to expand in paradise

Once in a dream (for dreaming was with you)
i struck the bells wantonly, tinkle tinkle well
to golden lamps and oranges

while foremost we sparkled on the brink
of love at one with nature
in hours that cannot come again
but continue like the ding dong deep.

where we two first exchanged our looks

25

The signature of love is exceptional
it was no passing encounter
our souls were destined to meet

dear friend, momentary & casual
as the sudden close of a trip
where all spirits gather

somewhere, along the way
you came close to my soul
the unfolding of ourselves
together, moment by moment

you did not occupy condescension
but an open humility pervaded
everything you did and said

you allowed me a glimpse into
another kind of life, where all
goodbyes and departures meet

the last timeless acquaintance
until, I see all souls as familiar
the easy remembrance of futurity

Dear! how common and easy is
our new home, where we in this shiny neighborhood
rejoice in the wilderness of shared potential

the signature of empathy of our renaissance
it was no passing encounter
we were ordained to meet and share like this.

Awed by your Splendor

22

If love hast ruled me, not hate
then shall I arise an older mate
who never loved like I do

where youth and love lie side by side
we shall stay young, in bed
and cherished happiness
If love thou hast for me, dear muse

my bride the rosy leaves
are flying to the shores
give to me, thy groom, soft sweetness
for eternity has gladness

here to pass, until the silver cord
bends lips of full kisses to thee
thy form is lovely, nearly as thy spirit
whose eyes are honeyed moisture

thick with the longing of
a lifetime without Aphrodite’s full charm
If love hast ruled me, not hate
then shall I abide with thee

Awed by thy splendorous dress
of good nature and stars near
with a bright face for me
in the roundest lights the earth can hold.

Vaulted over a raining star

108

We sit in silence
a brute Oneness
washing over us
legs crossed, oh
and hand in hand
at each side of the
young universe but
We are joined, like
whispers and magic
the sudden outpour of light
in the drama of creation
unified with our garden rising
into the skies, a majestic smoldering
of all the love we contained
in bodies that breathed the rippling
of scarlet years that waved
in the breeze of once-upon-a-times
unlikely we felt and squeezed
souls that were named ‘you and I’
we sit in silence still
having communicated everything
found everything at our source
I have no idea why
I find it so moving
that’s just life how
things distances wade through
Us to our core, eyes wide
with the surprise of meeting
the familiar down the path
the loving knock at the door.

On Waiting for Love

Surfing with The Alien

You are so beautiful, like karmic prophecies
I hold you for the first and last time
With the remembrance of white loneliness

The eternity of jasmine of waiting
I waited for you my laughing Mandarin Queen
I lathed your body with soap

Out of the earth the sweet roughness
Of womb and smile and mother-qualities
The sacred touch of the helping hand

You are so beautiful, like I wish to always see again
To stir the night with our golden sceptre
Out of the love of hope, the weight of kingdom and tiredness

The last relief of a life well done
Where we can continue walking
After the bonfire of burned letters, misguided spouses

Who never experienced what we did so easily –
You are so beautiful, like honeyed-butter skin
Like a Taiwanese fruit so rare, you give rest to my eyes
And nobility to my “face level” heart.

Monument of our Entry into Summer

SONY DSC

Our summer Monument had no form
It was our love at the end of July
Not four-sided or stiff, but with soul
For the two-thirds against the sky

Our summer Monument held our lives
It was our hope, at August’s narrow start
The view is geared, the care is destined
To come home to a beloved ornament

Over the edge of boxes, like change
Dances the perspective of another gain
Now can you see the monument?
Transparent but with long petals of tenderness?

I’m sorry, forgive me, thank you, I love you
I cannot live without the topmost trust
That makes all sacrifice seem the most natural thing.

Reunion

135

Bring those kisses back again
That are sealed with love for
Many a spring day, summer twilight
Bring those lips that shine of golden fruit

Bringwell, God knows we are meant
To rejoice a little, to heat up the frozen life
Of body going numb, and mind at rest
Where our bodies do join in honour and marriage

Bring, these and those kisses right here
That are sealed with garlands of love
Scents, roses, sapphires – let me comfort you
With flair, subtly, passionately – with hungry eyes

That dance the death of night so sweetly – too sweetly
Bring those kisses back again
For more, O’ my love for -evermore
Bring those lips that shine on, the holy rounds

Of health and ancient receptacles sugary
As in a vault of love, all cuddled up
For many a hundred years have I waited for thee.

Letters I tore open as our bodies melted together

116

I gave you love gifts
Kisses for your earlobes
I gilded the time where our palms met
Like the fragrance of clean summer air

I gave you all my time
Where hung the many shinning things
In my chest’s forgotten depths
You have enabled me to truly live

A few days, weeks, months
You gave me open letters of silver
(As it is written in the Song of Songs)
I have been cherished by you

And I have covered your skin
With the fabric of my beloved touch
And kissed you into sleep’s happy melody
I gave you love gifts

All over your delicate body
And I hung my life’s passion on you
Without needing a religion or language
But love’s oldest embrace
The last passage to Oneness.

I Spoke in Praise of your Mortal Hips

115

I stroked your hair, after the hundredth kiss
These kisses were desert over the pillow
A cheese-cake stamp of time stopped

Or she shot ahead in letters of your name
I touched your mouth, for the quiet year
Of no longer looking, listening

For the prophecy of your dreams
It hurt to sleep away from you
I touched your hand, which you never felt
*
But with the fingers of water, we laughed
We talked again all night, for another night
I loomed over your soul, like a lantern

With butterfly wings and glad melody
In the middle of your full eyes
I found a part of myself I had left

From previous lives, the forget-me-nots
Of spiritual centuries glued and tightening
Of the great loves we left ourselves on the long journey
&
I touched you with the world falling asleep
And I didn’t care, that I Would be late for bed.

The Room Was tipsy with your voice

114

If with a bitter mouth, you will speak
Speak with an open heart
For salty tears of a lost life
That which grows sweeter
The closer you get to destiny

The lips of the sweetest milk
And I will say to you it was
Written in the book of time
And I read yours of coming nights
In the plurality of your most solitary hours

I came for you with savage verses
If with crying eyes you transcend memory
I will spare you dreams, of dreaming
Of the love we found together
And it is also written, that we shall change

In the proud departure from our
Respective exiles, longest nights
That seem to pass like the rich evidence
Of what of the sweetest taste we have found.

SONG LYRICS:

I am a universe of dust
Adrift in this vast sea
fall into who’s mind by accidentally
how much no longer want to leave

I am a universe of dust
A state negligible
became to who’s favorite by accidentally
how much want to believe eternal existence

for What
let me meet such kind of you
What
let me do not doubt myself
What
let me no longer afraid of losing
In this vast sea of people
I do not want to become transparent

I am a universe of dust
Adrift in this vast sea
If you are my inevitable presence
how much no longer want to leave
i am a dust of universe

Once a Great Love

113

Once a great love caked my life in one.
With the missing that a great love makes
Every minute apart, feels like an eternity

The passing of years has calmed me
She brought healing to my heart
I rest my eyes on her art

And I know I am standing
At the bank of the greatest river
My life has ever known

Looking at the sign: “Sea Level”
It’s pointing to the ocean
I know these years will race

Down to the face of everywhere
That “face level” where my love lives
And I am there greedily next to her

For as long as I can give
This greatest love that cooks
All the food I will ever need.

Fragment: To One True Fate

Is not today enough, love upon the seas of fate?
Few flowers grew upon the wintry way
This is spring and summer of my cheerful return
Sufficient unto the day of my last belonging’s tide
That discord was and but a dim slave
And sorrow a petty repetition in the brain
Is not love enough, enough for today?
I have wandered long enough
Like an ocean, homeless and unconfined
But these days appear like a settled-dream
As if a warm and gentle atmosphere
Kept me close and sweet and tender
In the health of our shared wealth of soul
It is enough, to make the spirit sing
With the speed of singing love’s own name.

Fragment: Human Love

112

Aye, Music, thou art the food of love
As is divine speech, as is the eye’s regard
Love feeds then upon the beauty
Of the secret sweet self of the other
Till all becomes music once again
And silence in love, another fragment of hearing
For giving’s glow is a virtue unto itself
Aye, it’s all a part of the warm return
That thine heart follows pure thoughts
To return to our Dear home at last
As if with all earliest hopes and joys
And all the treasures that memory can make
Lovely recompense for bitter former tears
A fragment of music, a shelf of home comfort
Aye, human love is but a portion of the Great Spirit
That nurtures our humanity of unimagined caves
Giving a voice to the mysterious waves
Sound, heart, touch, moments freed in harmony.

To the Beauty in Everything

109

We are wild as the storm
Our fates were restless as the Spring
Until we met, we found
Mountain songs in everything

Generous like nature
We are free as the sky
Our fates were wide open meadows
Until we met, we found

Flying birds with outstretched wings
Bubbling laughter in ancient Mandarin
My life became an open Lotus
Murmuring about the tide
In everything, it must have been your secret

Vision spirit-tiger, your hidden grace
That lifted my life to warbling singing roaring
It was to be my drunk summer throng
Of wishes, of seven lifetime fates Beloved

We are wild as the storm
Our fates were the harmony of the Beyond
Until we met, jilted by fate
We renewed our vows to
The beauty in everything. Photography Courtesy: http://browse.deviantart.com/art/Freebird-378379295

There Are Accomplished Facts of Living in the Present

(One of them is Love)

All day long in spring and song
We lived in eternity’s day
All day long in dew and wind
We lived in summer’s hour of infinity
Against Paradise we stood
Hand in hand, heart to heart
For waves and love and festivity
We lived in eternity’s presence
All day long in joy and mimicry
We called it the Beloved present

It was an accomplished fact
That we decided to Fall in Love

A first outburst of the new dawn
Our very own special New World
All day long we talked and made love
We lived in eternity’s day
All day long in sunlit drapes and fugitive steps
We traced Taiwanese wilderness
In Montreal streets, circling the planet
Against Paradise we touched and ate
Hand in hand, heart to heart
All day long in summer’s hour of infinity

It was an accomplished fact
That we decided to Fall in Love.

God Sped Summer

75
God sped are Summer’s heights
As if the Eternal crown of days
These days are winding down
Like youth’s prologue, happy & sweet

Tangled with cherries, fishwife kisses
Tackled with clouds, of opaque innocence
Shells of the life that speak to the Seven Seas
These are times when the night catches
*
The peace of strangers, to be merry
No matter the sacrifices we bear
God sped are Summer’s sighs
That linger yearning, passionate

In the nets of sunsets, wood’s dancing hooves
The dusks burn bright with the bluest
Fountainheads of dreams, the flood begins
The flickering beauty of our star-lit days

God sped are the singsong owls
Of moonbeam talks, reverent looks
Sacred delays in time, the cooing hand
The praise of joys ready to begin

The waters cluck and cling, to Summer
Drinking to the ancients, across
The shoal of the greatest of comforts
These are the last loves we treasured.

June Night

Oh Earth, starry home, goodnight
It’s too dear to-night to say goodbye
The floating rainy fragrance
Sips the night’s open sky
I say goodnight, then before tomorrow
Hits and opens, with a deep voice
For another sunny young June-day
Oh Earth, cloudy returns, goodnight
I love you, oh what have I
To give you in return –
Low moon, full moon bodied after-all
It’s too dear to-night to say goodnight
The floating love of my life hangs
Sipping an open sky tonight
That I might say ‘goodbye’
Coming home to bed you June Night.

A Heart to Add Wholeness

71

Oh, there are eyes that can rejoice
And a heart to add to wholeness
That laughs as a lover only can
These bare breast that do pound
This skin that does cry
Oh, there are lips that rest here
How will hungry Time
Put by sunshine then?
Hour after hour uplifted so?
Oh I would live in you and me
Build myself lightly on a dream
And would my thoughts wrap
Your feelings bright, till we are
Lost in swimming stars
So should I lose myself
To love you my dear?

Did You Always Keep

Did you always keep
Your love in the present?
How much you never lessened it
Fresh-hearted we were young

Our fate was to know
The love we kept like flying leaves
In the winds of destiny
Red with Autumn’s princess moments

Green with Spring’s princely body-contact
Did you always keep
Your love in the present?
Seldom did we miss the truth
I know all your secrets, my dear, my dear.

True Nature of Spring

69

I have sung the songs of first birds
Of morning’s wish of the flying away
And clapped my hands for the sun
In the loving gold grace of your eyes
The fault must be mine to
Not know the silence

That comes before the dawn
The minor birds of dream
Have fled my grasp, slippery doves
The humming bird seen once in a lifetime
I have sung the songs of peacocks
To the uncertain harvests of Mandarin

The orchard white, the orchids of Taiwan
All the spring stored of so many years
Of youth’s last wish for love
Those joys usually reserved for God
All this celebration that is the springing of the year
To jump in prayers more subtle than pleasure.
