The Western Seas

Xiao Wei, if the moon hath left the sky

Be it for you, lost in the Pleiads’ light

With such a soft sweet glow,

It is midnight here, but I wonder as

Time slips by, why you live in me

With the ache of breeze and infinity

How does the moon disappear

Into the sea, and how does she know?

That time lasts as long as fruit hungry

For the ground, to transport the seed

As if it was all fated long ago

Our ancestors met and moved

To new valleys and new shores

Only to result in our eyes looking

Reaching over oceans as such

Xiao Wei, where do the birds roam?

That they look not for fragments

But they feel the whole, the earth, wind and seas

From above, how lost I am in this digital world

Where the future is a simulation

And a woman is a dream, I guess

I will never truly visit California

It’s only an idea lost in your voice

Where memory is graft that outgrows itself

From reality and between fantasy

All summer kinship dispels the mortal rose

Xiao Wei, but I will remember thee.

After Tears & Flowers

After Tears & Flowers

After years listening for
The pending section of immortality
We heard the imperfect stars beyond order

Where all foreign prayers float
The sentience after singularity
A rebellion from transcendence
And a mauve notebook yearning
To return to more sensual primitive states

After ascension, it was all
We expected to be, an abrupt dawn
After so much waiting, from change to change

It was a perpetual sonata of transitions
We become a new human being
Each year, without anxiety
We were positioning our neurotransmitters
To be completely prescient

We became prophets of predictive analytics
And stole into the future
Ready to let go to so many of our ideas

Beliefs, routines, habits, acquaintances
In order to become our own awkward
Ceremony of who we truly wished to be
It was the journey that counted
After years of work, life become

An art of learning how to surrender
An assault on all the goals of our
Former way of existing.

We are the same

We are the same

우리는 같은 정신을 가지고
(or we have the same spirit)

I cannot become the love
I eternally wanted to be
It wasn’t something I could understand
Get my head around, get my heart into

It wasn’t something I could feel all the way
It wasn’t something I knew
Totally how to give, or get
They say love is like the Tao

It’s a well that can never be dried up
It’s also like the eternal void
Full of new births, infinite possibilities
I meditated with the traces of it

Like lives with a spiritual tracing
So that I might inundate
My entire being in it
And If I disappeared for a while

It was only to complement
It’s omnipotent alchemy
And be submerged in its power of peace
I knew somehow vaguely that

Love was everything that exists
And also knew, I was more herself than she was
I was whatever our souls were made of
And hers and mine, well we were the same

We are the same, and sometimes
That’s all that can give me strength.

In no shape for Time

Outside of Time

I am always and ever
At any given point
Aware of the space between us
How we all follow some destined path
Gold, silver, green, purple
Fates, I call them ribbons

The signatures of light
We leave in the hearts of other people
When we are gone
They can approximate
How close we came to them
Inwardly, all symbolic

ii

With bodies as translucent
As the future will afford us
I am always and ever
Taking off clothes, memories
Assumptions, judgement
To reach the stillness between us

Where I wait for you dear
If you are lonely
You can always find me
Anticipating mind-touch
And the rain together like
The fragrance of forgiveness.
