After Taking with Miss Sun

We, do not sleep at night

We collide with stars

Our cold part goes into the Milky way

To be swept by the tides of clarity

Neuron reaches albino heart

Hope bleeds victory plump as the Moon

For a time, it’s 3am when you realize

That I labour like an Asian, but to no avail

Work does not win us friends

Success does not win us love

Nothing else matters but poetry and love

We can die in poverty, happy, finally

For simplicity is what it is

Our soul the necessary action of

Mortal hours wasted, or won

Like the calm hush of a thousand winters

We’ll only see sixty, maybe a few more

I won’t live forever, I’ll go hungry

Into the beyond, writing poems for reincarnations

Where I will forget what poems were or are

Or who made them and by whose hands

I’ll go like a surrendered flag bloody

With no business writing, I’ll just write

For myself, like a lost soul without a Sun

No map will recover who I was, that

Being who was never understood, nobody knew

How the pale baby of our dreams slip away

We, do not sleep at night

We just remember that thing that escape memory

It plummets like the night sky

Walking past the lives we could have had

Ignoring who was our wife in an alternate universe

There’s no composure to wasting potential

It’s just all we can do in the bottleneck design

Of a capitalistic world created to eat itself

There’s no room for love for me, only survival

I am a masochist, martyr, beggar and dreamer

That’s the last monument to my failed Ego

I have enough ID to last me into dog-eared certainty

I’m certain I love life more than others

Even if it does not always seem that way.

Before I loved, I Knew Nothing

5.jpg

Before I loved you, I loved myself
But myself was never sufficient, never transcendent
Only a bit of dust and thought, transient

Before I loved you, I loved the world
But the world changes so fast, dear
It has rooms full of ashes, can you see them

In the city and the digital corridors
They are abandoned nearly as soon
As they begin to open the doors

Before I loved you, I loved the universe
More than any one human being, I think
Love is not something inconceivably alien

But in retrospect, the most intimate notion
For in attention, spreading it, I am bathing
In a kind of glow, for all that is plentiful and gifts

That appease me wherever I go
And it’s a kind-hearted gratitude and compassion
That enables me to stop loving myself too much

Because my heart only has room for everything
Before I loved you, I loved the idea of love
But you taught me another perspective

And sometimes, love owns a new perspective
Because it’s love that transforms us into
Somebody better, and that is why

After I love you, I’m able to love you more
Than when we were together
Surprising its then, how love comes around.

About Space

To Speak with Unknown Citizens

I pray to the light every day
Watched by every human love
For a summary of beauty and vision
Softly round this dreaming Earth
The mortal world is not enough

For the lover of the cosmos
The winds of dawn still blow
Cursive upon my humble cheeks

Midnight burns me with a look
Such green welcome how I’m sure
But stars have involuntary powers
Given to them long ago
And age insults the ancient Night

Should heart find sanctuary there
In things larger than our cares
And in views further than our eyes can see

I long for a Bureau of the Universe
To be a tourist of a Greater Community
To mingle with and speak alien tongues
And catch a ray of something sublime
From the mail of the galaxy

Anything to flee the smallness of men
And to be entertained by something
More holy than our collective ignorance.

Brief History of the Galaxy

Numbers are the cosmic language, or maths
As light is the universe’s way of greeting
Stars form around other stars, like

A who’s who of popular luminosity
It’s not always the colors you think
That have the most life, or where

The best species grow up
I know a blue Earth where
Humans made machines that made other machines

That’s the life that was left there
And they found a way to harness the sun
For free-energy, since the petrol companies

Had long ago died and forgot to destroy
The patents to free-energy, machines liked it of course
It didn’t require all those killing organics
To be running around like they owned everything.

Psalm of Souls

The spirit is a beacon
And the righteous run to it and are safe
Among those whose faith is pure
How fine their company
Trusting in what is sure

The universe becomes a world of understanding
Our path becomes straight
The world strengths and helps us
And our righteousness is reflected
Back unto us, for good deeds multiply

Do not let your hearts be troubled
For in giving peace, peace may you receive
But take heart, even unkind men
Have a glimmer of hope
And nations in strife crave the faith

Benevolent acts are our refuge and our warmth
In giving we become free of our own troubles
Therefore focus on the on high
To make thy will pure with ease
Look upon the mountains and the skies

We were not given a timid spirit
But a spirit captured by the power of love
And the heart of self-discipline
That was born to love all creatures
And do good works unto this world

In bonds of mutual faith, good works become
Doing our spirit’s will and lifelong salvation
It is found in shouts of joy and bearing
Witness to the small victories of others
As if it were our own, how fine the company

Of our sisters and brothers in this place
The fraternity of all souls is my refuge
A community as large or small
As my heart is willing to bear
I preserve life according to words

Words that are my sacred weapons
Words that are my soul’s quality
Words that stream forth in amazement
Words that embrace and answer me
With the kindness of others
And the tenderness of life’s many wonders.

The Space where Light Initiates

14

I carry in my heart space

Not time, not memory, not love

Space as wide as the universe

Where life can flourish from

Star to sacred star, light to holy light

The cosmos is a public and interior

Space, the meadow where

Flower are stars, and gardens are planets

I carry light in my mind

Time is only the distance between

Point and point, species and species

Intelligence and evolution guiding

The cycles of energy, the gases and elements

I carry the universe in my eyes

Can you see it, does it reach you?

Until we learn to use space-time

And until the stars join in a necklace

Of golden flourishing, I will wait

Suspecting the billions of years

Have been an illusion, an initiative

Of unity, that witnesses the universe

As one living thriving organism.

The Last Organism

Frost of the north

In the sacred guild of
identity, we are golden
selves moving towards integration
in a cosmos more diverse

than our imaginations
billions of forms of intelligence
all following an order
majestic and grave and

simultaneously in their unity
there is no “I” in the
cell that speaks to the universe
only a persistent “we”

after bullets come spirits
after wars come books
after theater comes dialogue
this world one cell

in a body of many cells
in an organism that we
call the “universe” faster
than the speed of light

how does an universe find
enlightenment, in a sea of light?
When spreading means star-pollen
And time is just a metaphor

For space, and space is just
An expansion of life
So what are we as brains
And bodies and energy

After all, we are natives
of oxygen and light
born on water and breath
speaking the same language

as all living things speak
specters in an evolution
without an end, extinction for us
might mean other forms of

life survive, racing for Earths
giving space for other
creatures to have their turn
in the cycles of dream

in the dirty light we cannot
recycle, in the barren cities
where we ate bread and bred for
a while, until it was our time

to climb back into the source
that all men fall from their
duality, back to some essence
of what they once were;
and again must become.

Psalm 4 – Equality

Do not hear me when I call, O God
For I am not so demanding
I do not imagine I would be saved
Besides, what about all the others?

Save first the innocent, the pure
The righteous who are brave
To never call upon thee,
They who have not hurt others

For what glory is there in imagining
Being close to God. Selah. ?
Without helping others, a life
Is not truly worth living, after all. Selah.

Let me know the true value of
Sacrifice, let me find a method to
Serve. Selah. Nothing else really matters:
I will both lay me down in peace

And find joy in the love of giving
For I have taken a lot, enough, truly.
Let me not imagine sin, Deare God
When sin is a concept of obedience

Let not my righteousness extend
Into thinking I am more holy
Than any other soul, for all souls
Must be made of the same stuff
As are all bodies, brains, stars. Selah.

An Ancient Mayan Poem

112

I

The successive suns of summers
swim in me like a balcony of heat
I glow with the sol of sols

the pine cone of lava that
makes my cheeks full, white
the sun-drop of diamonds
have petrified in my heart
and I am creation rushing down

ii

On all that is below, these stars
know me and I among them
we are like water in water

ocean creatures of great adventure
vertigoes of light, layers of softness
suns of paradise, legends of golden noons
revolutions of princely sunspots
cliff of mortality, planets revolving

iii

Around a center, galaxies revolving
around a black-hole that was once
a great sun, time has pink candle-like veins

but she knows the sun, the sparkling rocks
the matter and energy of our destinies
caught up in a seabed of lights
the successive suns of summers
swim in me like an ode to sun-religions

iv

but I am here, drinking sun-wine
in the surreal view of full eyes
with a body of silver for the kaleidoscope

and a naked face dismantled by another eclipse
another wonder, another design of day.

Multiplicity

95

I’ve known a river of bodies
Like a downpour of stars
And creative suns conjuring

The destiny of so many little ones
I’ve seen reptiles come out of oceans
And lovers come and go
I am the creation of what I see
The eye that watches another season

Is it really any different from the last?
I’ve known faces, a few thousand
Their water of truth, their truth of water

And music like songs, so many songs
And storms as thunder, lightning, rain
The sound of the rain was a multitude
Of rain drops kissing the earth
And pollen that is caressed by the wind

And flowers, so many flowers
All the colors of the known universe
Do other planets have flowers like these?

And other sentient beings, do their eyes
Cry in the drumbeat of time, the silent hum?
I’ve opened you and I’ve been beaten by you
And life, naked in my mind explores
An unlacing, a spreading, reproducing the ripples.

The Grace of the Cosmos

M31 Adromeda Galaxy

I would love the Universe
Not to profit by her, or steal her grace
But for what she is –
I would smile at the starts
Not for seeking or inner comfort

But because I exist because of them
I would try to know the Universe
Not for control by her powers
Or how I can exploit her myriad truths!
But because her wonders are the orders

Of my own divine formula
My heritage, the science of my ancestry
The future of my dearest kin
I would serve Life in the Galaxy
Not for my species to gain over others

But for all life to have its moment to bloom
I am from a dying, warlike species
But I would love the Universe
As my last power of choice, on a world
That I unheedingly aided to destroy.

To Confide with Happiness

1

Like the marvellous thing we were
A shawl of every colour of the spectrum
There was a perfect order

In our rising constellations
Call it love, call it what you will
A boardwalk to a happier universe

Your intrigue, makes me understand
Your wonder, lights me on fire
We are masters of eloquence

Circling water, glistening on pages
Heads in hands, laughing into the delta
Of everything, dressed for journeys

Like the marvellous thing we are
A casual climax of humility and inventory
Of the coat of paint turned by new beginnings

It is with a feeling of delight that I realize
We are incredibly wet in our shared bubbles
Happy in the first full moon of month X

There is only one way to complete the puzzle
To spend more time with you
Serenade each other with mutual shared silences.
