Remnants of a Thousand Springs
Remnants of a Thousand Springs
The things that one grows tired of
The longing and the loving
And how the face gets older each season
I used to hardly perceive the difference
The wonder and joy are calmer now
My senses no longer follow
I am gracious with just a few
Wheeling stars, a recurrence of spring
A belt of purity across the simplicity
A sacred look a day from a stranger
I imagine to be a good omen
I’m aware of the fuel to inner burning gold
That lets memories fly away like birds
Ascending to a winter heaven
I’m less fortunate than before, I’m lucky
Only as a nomad of the inner worlds
Learning to live without preference
My attachments burned away
Until I found a solid grasp on happiness
That didn’t require significant objects
The props of living, remnants of desire.
In Living Poetry
Utterance leaves me silent
My tongue as useless
As subtle fire, the universe
Can speak what it wants
To creatures temporary
As transient as ears ringing
And sightless eyes
In the sea of living
Evolution is daring, and
Adoring thee, for what
You were and not what
You could become
Language brings you closer
To duality, away
From the initial unity
The oneness of lost oceans
And poetry is just the music
Of the thoughts of ancients
A speck of beauty left
A remnant of symbols
Dead for madness and gone
A strong trembling of
The fever of the Gods
A lyrical fluttering
And the heart beholds
The truth in a moment
And I behold your living poetry
Like eyes of diamonds
And words of star-songs.
Like Aristotle’s Memory
I go in search of wonder
By doing so I find it everywhere
In the savour of breath
And in the flow of blood
Biology is an antique song
Who showed you the path
Of the poets?
The heart of silk
And the pen of light?
You leave us singing
In the little square
With lost bells
The lilies and the bees
Are gone, but wonder
It’s rippled like a legend
Everywhere, enormous
Pupils of gigantic glee
Injured somewhere in the wind
Farther than the seas
Intimate as every star
And I wonder, why is
Beauty and truth sprinkled
Like leaves in the galaxies
Did Aristotle look upon
Purple plains and wonder?
It’s a broken harmony
In the mind, in the protests
Of silence, in moments
Shrouded by desire
And the frozen sleepy pause
Of cities gone to sleep
Very bitter is the wonder
Of change and time’s labyrinth
I need search no longer then
Rocking the dawn
It’s found me here.
I lose myself inside this soft world
Love is the joy of the good, the wonder of the wise, the amazement of the Gods.
~Plato

Everyday wonder makes a claim in my life
she kills me with delight
for an ordinary pleasure or a surprise
light on the haystack, breeze on the stream
hope in the eyes of the young
faith in the heart of a pure soul
I’d like to think I have acclimatized myself
To joy, but it’s not true
we don’t have an exceptional relationship yet
though we are bonding, building rapport
it can take years of untrimmed kindness
to sooth a weary soul, lips of spirit
kisses of altruism, echoes of passion
everyday wonder, makes a hole
in the place inside of me where
I make my daily presentation to myself
nudging me to celebrate, what I do have
love that has found me, friends who stay
poverty shows prosperity, hardship shows strength
while we are growing wise,
we are growing old, I’m not surprised
to feel a little more mindful sometimes.
Chronicle of Comet-Like-Jewel Eyes
I am alive with lucid memories
That are mere moments
Of my future, ribboned sequences
Of the pure enactment of miracles
The little crazy buzz
Of kindness, the gift of giving
The altruism principle, in full bloom
Flowering of big-sky belonging
I am alive with the joy-in-chaos
Of hours stretched to the bottom
Of every corner, every error, deployed
Like sentinels of the state-of-wonder
Fresh like cinnamon roses-buds
Moving colors of wispy vanilla
Chocolate resplendent autumns
I am alive to the best of the world
Where harvests come from strange occurrences
And accidents lead me to love
The old jewel box by the side of the road
Where you smiled at me
And changed me forever.
